TOLEDO, OH (PRESS RELEASE) - Tembo Trail, home to the Toledo Zoo’s dynamic new elephant exhibit, is slated to open Friday, May 18. In order to complete final preparations, some nearby exhibits will close from April 9 until May 18.

Although the centerpiece of the new project is the $15 million elephant facility, funded by Lucas County 2006 capital levy voters and the zoo’s private capital campaign, Tembo Trail is more than elephants; it’s a fresh new look and feel to the area formerly known as the Savanna.

TOLEDO, OH (PRESS RELEASE) - Egg hunts are one of the fun rituals of spring. At the Toledo Zoo, this tradition comes with a zoo twist: the Animal Egg Hunt Friday, April 6. Animals all across the zoo track down papier-mâché eggs, hard-boiled eggs and other treats hidden in their habitats. The day features storytimes and crafts in Nature’s Neighborhood.

The Animal Egg Hunt is more than just fun for visitors - it’s a great form of enrichment for the animals. Through enrichment, we stimulate the animals’ senses and encourage natural behaviors. It’s a key component of their overall well-being.
